Wood and Soda Vase #4
Fired in a special soda kiln, this vase is truly one of a kind, with a different design on either side. During the firing, a mixture of soda ash and water is sprayed into the kiln at 2275 degrees and, as it swirls around with the path of the flame, glazes the pots and creates dramatic effects. The firing ends with an addition of wood which gives the gray sheen. Check out this slideshow to better understand the process.
